Born and raised in Calgary AB, Shannon began dancing at the age of three, where she trained and competed in a variety of dance styles such as ballet, jazz, lyrical, and contemporary. Ballet became her core focus by the age of 11, leading her to train intensively at the School of Alberta Ballet (Professional Division), Miami City Ballet School, and International School of Ballet. She has performed for television, theme parks, and cruise ships in such places as Japan, Australia, Greece, and Turkey, and proudly lists her role as Fritz in Alberta Ballet’s production of “The Nutcracker” as the highlight of her performing career.
Shannon is a fully certified teacher with the Royal Academy of Dance, and has over 9 years of experience teaching and preparing students for RAD ballet exams ranging from Pre-Primary to Advanced 2. Her past students have been accepted into prestigious training programs at the Royal Ballet School, American Ballet Theatre, Miami City Ballet School, Kirov Ballet Academy, National Ballet School of Canada, and Royal Winnipeg Ballet School, among others. She is also a certified Progressing Ballet Technique instructor, and partakes in extensive research regarding functional anatomy, biomechanics, psychology, and motor learning & development as it relates to ballet and dance technique. As such, her classes are structured around the latest research in dance medicine and kinesthetics, ensuring every student develops a solid understanding and appreciation for ballet and its many technical complexities.
