In a recent blog post, we wrote about Performance Dance Arts’ alumni Amanda Cleghorn being the only Canadian dancer on Taylor Swift’s upcoming tour. However, Amanda is far from the only student to pass through the halls of our dance studio in Vaughan who has gone on to bigger things.

Daniel Celebre (pronounced “Chellibray”), also known as “Da FunkyMystic,” is a former student of our dance studio in Vaughan who was inspired at a young age by the dance moves of Michael Jackson. He started dancing at the age of four and acting by the time he hit 17. In addition to appearing in commercials, Daniel also appeared in big-budget Hollywood movies, including Honey and The Lizzie McGuire Movie

Things came full circle for Daniel when he was hired as a principal dancer for Michael Jackson’s This Is Ittour. Unfortunately, the tour was cancelled 18 days before it was scheduled to kick off following Jackson’s untimely death on June 25, 2009. Footage of Daniel appears prominently on the film that was based onThis Is It.

On January 19, 2010, Daniel’s connection to the “King of Pop” continued when he took part in a collective dance in the Philippines alongside Travis Payne and Dres Reid to Michael Jackson’s “They Don’t Care About Us” with an intro from “Bad” alongside the famed Cebu Provincial Detention and Rehabilitation Center, famous for their viral videos of the inmates dancing to Michael Jackson’s “Thriller” and other hits. Like the other clips of the dancing inmates, the clip went viral, garnering over three million views in just one week. He later went on to appear on The Ellen Degeneres Show alongside dancer Shannon Holtzapffel and also appeared with the top Michael Jackson dancers.

Daniel is just one of the many students from our dance studio in Vaughan who has gone on to bigger and better things. Whether you want your child to dance competitively or just for fitness, we offer lessons in a range of styles, from ballet to jazz to hip hop.

Your aspiring dancer could go on to perform with the biggest pop stars in the world when you sign them up for lessons at our dance studio in Vaughan.
